GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Eligibility – Each exhibitor must be a member of a FFA Chapter and be enrolled in elementary, secondary or home school in Cameron or Willacy County and in their respective FFA Chapter from November 1, 2022, thru the show period.
2. Liability – all exhibitors must be under the control and direction of the show management, but the show in no case is responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may occur. The Tip-O-Tex District will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the animals or to the owner of attendant thereof.
3. Entry Fees – The entry fee for all species will be $30.00. Late entries will be accepted at a cost of $250.00 plus the original entry fee – CASH or SCHOOL CHECK ONLY.
4. Care of Animals – Exhibitors must personally care for their animals and keep their pens clean and in an orderly manner.
5. Health Requirements – All livestock exhibited must meet the health requirements of the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC). No Health Certificates Required. No External Parasites. Exhibitors may spray pen space/ animal for parasites.
Cattle:
Cattle from tick or scabies quarantined areas must be accompanied by certificate issued by a state or by or federal inspector showing freedom from infection or exposure thereto and have been dipped immediately prior to shipment. These animals will be checked against health certificate at the gate of the show grounds. Any animal maybe inspected, refused enter or be required to be removed from the show grounds due to disease or external parasites. Animals that show an evidence of abnormal discharge will not be admitted and all cows calving will be isolated.
6. Showing Restrictions – Each exhibitor must exhibit his or her own animal, unless exhibitor is showing two animals at the same time. Animal must be validated under the FFA chapter in which it is being exhibited.
7. Validation – All animals exhibited must be validated under the FFA chapter they are representing. Exhibitors must have owned and personally cared for their animal(s) continuously since the dates listed below:

8. Reclassifications – Exhibits entered in the wrong class will be reclassified by the judge, division chairman or by his appointed representative.
9. Grooming of Animals – Entries may be groomed for show only in designated areas. (Brushing, combing, bathing)
NO CLIPPING ALLOWED ON ANY SPECIES ON SHOW GROUNDS UNLESS DIRECTED BY COMMITTEE CHAIR.
10. Judging Rules – No exhibitor at any time or in any way, whether in person or by agent, servant parent, or any other person, may interfere with the judges and/or sifters in their official capacity or exhibit disrespect to them or to other show officials.
11. Fitters- No Fitters of any type allowed in show grounds. Animals are to be handled by only students, Ag Teachers or Parents. (Feeding, drenching)
12. Handling- No unethical handling of an animal will be tolerated.
13. No Substitutes – No substitutions of entries will be allowed in any division after entry deadline. Student may have a substitute showman only if entered projects are being shown at the same time.
14. All Grand Champions and Reserve Grand Champions will be checked for ownership (validation) in Willacy and Cameron counties. Failure to verify or comply with ownership rules (page 6, section 9 validation) will result in the exhibitor’s animal validation tag removed and state validation committee notified of ownership violation. Exhibitor in violation of rules will also be stripped of his/her winnings.
15. Removal of Exhibits – All animals may be removed as soon as they finish showing. Hogs may be brought in on Thursday once all shows are completed and animals have been removed for the day.
16. Entry Limits – Each exhibitor is allowed to enter 2 animals per division (2 lambs / 2
hogs/ 2 goats/ 2 heifers/ 2 steers)
CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATION OF RULES
?Disqualification of the exhibitor, his or her family or both from the Tip-O-Tex District FFA Livestock Show.

?Suspension or disqualification of the exhibitor, his or her immediate family, or both from future Tip-O-Tex shows.
-
?And/or such other penalty as the Executive Committee otherwise orders.

GENERAL RULES.
1. All entries are subject to the general rules and regulations of the Tip-O-Tex Show in addition to the following rules and regulations
2. All steers must be the bonafide property of the exhibitor and cared for by the exhibitor.
3. An entry application must be submitted and entry fee must accompany the entry
4. Steers will be weighed upon arrival at the show.
5. Steers will be divided into weight classes. Weight classes will be determined at the day
of the show. The steer committee will determine these classes. The decision of the committee will be final.
6. There will be two (2) breed divisions for steers as follows*:
a. ABC
b. AOB
*Unless 3 or more head - a breed class will be created according to the RGVLS breed format. RGVLS breed classes include: Santa Gertrudis/Santa Gertrudis Crossbreeds, Simbrah, ABC (American Breeds &Crossbreeds), Charolais /Charolais Crossbreeds, Chianina, Maine Anjou, AOB (British & European Breeds).
7. All steers must have a Texas Validation tag.
8. All steers must be shorn prior to sifting. Hair must not exceed ¼” on any location of the body excluding the tail switch. Failure to comply will result in the steer being sifted.

GENERAL RULES:
MARKET HOGS
1. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to weigh hog in with the Hog Committee by 10:00 a.m. All entries are subject to the general rules and regulations of the Tip-O-Tex Show in addition to the following rules and regulations. Swine must be the bonafide property of the exhibitor as of November 30,2022 and must continuously fed and cared for by the exhibitor.
2.Swine may be reclassified according to breed characteristics by judge in the holding/show arena.
3. Swine will be divided into a minimum of two weight classes by the swine division committee depending on the number of entries per breed.
4. There will be seven breed divisions for swine. They will show in the following order:
Durocs
Hampshires
Yorkshires
Dark OPB
Light OPB
Dark Crosses
Light Crosses
5. All hogs must have a Texas validation tag. (validation will be checked at weigh-in)
6. Each exhibitor may show a maximum of two hogs.
7. Progress show: 180 & above
Prospect show: 179 & under
8. Breed Champion and Reserve Breed Champion will be weighed back at the conclusion of the division as well as before the champion drive at the discretion of the committee. There will be a ten (10) pound weigh back.

GENERAL RULES:
LAMB DIVISION
1. All entries are subject to the general rules and regulations of the Tip-O-Tex Show in addition to the following rules and regulations.
2. All lambs must have a Texas validation tag. (validation will be checked at weigh-in)
3.Lambs must be castrated male or unbred female. Female lambs must have a premise ID tag.

4. Each breed will be divided into equal or as equal as possible weight breaks.

5. Committee will declare breed at weigh-in; during judging sheep can be reclassified by official judge.

- 7. Washing of Animals – Exhibitors will be allowed to wash lambs after arrival.
8. All lambs must be slick shorn from above the knee and hock. Lambs with excessive wool will not be weighed. No top notch allowed.
- 9. There will be NO CLIPPING allowed once animals arrive on show grounds unless directed by committee chair.
GOAT DIVISION

GENERAL RULES:
1. All entries are subject to the general rules and regulations of the Tip-O-Tex Show in addition to the following rules and regulations.
2. Goats must be castrated male or unbred female. Female goats must have a premise ID tag.

3. All goats must have a Texas validation tag. (validation will be checked at weigh-in)

4. Goats will be divided into weight divisions as equally as possible after weigh in. Each weight division will then be divided into three (3) classes nearly equal in number. First place goats in each class will compete for champion of their division. The second place goat in the division that produced the division champion will be eligible to compete for reserve division champion. Division and reserve division champions will compete for Grand and Reserve Champion goat.

5. Exhibitors will be required to have horns tipped on all goats before arrival to the show grounds.

6. Exhibitors must use collars or halters on animals in the show rings. Chokers with spikes will not be permitted.

GENERAL RULES:
- All entries are subject to the general rules and regulations of the Tip-O-Tex Show in addition to the following rules and regulations.
2. At check in all commercial heifer exhibitors must provide a copy of the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Commercial Heifer validation paper. Commercial heifers will be classified by the cattle committee.
3. At check in all registered heifer exhibitors must provide registration papers / validation papers.
4. Heifer must have been calved on or after May 1, 2021. An entry application must be submitted and an entry fee must accompany the entry.
5. Commercial heifers will show together in the two following divisions:
a. ABC
b. Exotics
6. Registered heifers will show together in the two following divisions:
a. ABC
b. Exotics
